Black and gold is one of the most timeless, elegant and eye-catching color combinations a modern interior could possess. Embracing this powerful color combination and adding a dose of metallic glamour and dramatic contrast will most definitely make any room a statement. If this look is done wrong, it could add a tacky vibe to a space. For this bedroom I opted for an all-black backdrop. Well the actual color is called obsidian, from Restoration Hardware. Before you rush off and purchase this paint color, make share you have tons of natural light and/or high ceilings. Even small spaces can look modern and elegant if all the other elements are chosen to contrast and enhance the effect of dark walls.

For this project I knew I wanted to add warmth and glamour, especially with all the windows and natural light. I utilized mixed metallics for contrast and drama. The gunmetal colored satin bedding helps to create a luxurious vibe. The tuxedo chandelier is a polished nickel with a hint of gold inlay. The diamond cowhide rugs were laid underneath the bed and the sitting area. The rugs have all the tones to tie in the major colors used to create the right look in this bedroom. The golds, whites, grays, browns and black are all showcased in the rugs. I enjoy adding a little whimsy to a room, hence the whimsical tall gold crane lamps. I also added a 66 x 54 “22 Hands Horse” art piece. To add a bit more allure I had it glass-coated.
As mentioned earlier I used a smaller version of the rug under the bed to frame the sitting area. Finding the perfect chairs wasn’t too hard to find. I hunted for a pair of simple high backed chairs in black with silver nailhead trim and voilà. Adding a mirrored side table between the chairs to hold the prodigious but beautiful flower arrangement, made sense. To finish off this section of the master boudoir I acquired two floor lamps, one for each side of the chairs. The final facet to bring it all together are the window panels. What other color but gold would do this bedroom justice. Do not be afraid to try a dramatic look if you are contemplating a new appearance for a room in home.
