Giddy Up, Rudolph

Western wear has been a part of my life since I was little cowboy. After all, I was reared in a small town in Texas. I’ll be honest in saying that I was not 100% sure about publishing this posting on “Cowboy Attire”. Then I said to myself, “Why not”? In my eyes Western wear is fashion and I embrace all styles of fashion. As a child I grew up wearing cowboy boots and hats. Even to this day I still enjoy wearing those two accents in western wear. It is a part of who I am. My father was a man who favored the cowboy attire. Growing up in West Texas in a predominately hispanic community, all I knew were cowboy boots, hats and Wrangler’s (wrangler.com) I enjoyed going with my father to Aldrich’s menswear in Dumas Texas to purchase his Western suits and Wrangler’s. I still remember his smile when he would come out of the dressing room wearing his new suit with his exotic boots. Although, the suits he would only wear for special occasions. Not to brag on my father but he had quite the amount of swag and knew how to carry it confidently. He was quite selective in choosing his boots, belts and cowboy hats.

Some of you might not consider “Cowboy Attire” as part of being in the fashion circle but you are mistaken. Probably the first thing that comes to your mind are, Wrangler’s? Well as much as that may be true, you can “cowboy up” almost any piece of clothing, whether it is high fashion or not. Western apparel has been stamping it’s mark in fashion since the 19th century. Does anybody remember, Roy Rogers, and Im not talking about the beverage. I remember watching an episode of The Muppet Show as a kid and he was the guest. His style captured my eyes. I would call his style, Urban Cowboy. For sure, he was a cowboy but he added a little flair to his outfits. I definitely took notice, as I absolutely enjoy pulling off my version of an urban cowboy. As I mentioned earlier I grew up wearing this apparel also known as “vaquero”. Undoubtedly, my love for fashion began with Western wear.
