Royal Blue

The color blue comes in very many different shades and hues. It represents sincerity, trust and loyalty. From a color psychology perspective, blue is reliable and responsible. Perhaps this is why I chose the color royal blue when I had KC Upholstery construct my settee. It’s a color that I originally had in mind when we purchased this colonial home in the Brookside area. As soon as I walked into the house I knew I wanted a black and white vibe with pops of color and a royal blue settee. I couldn’t be more happier with the results. However I did pay a pretty penny for it but there are pieces of furniture that one should not skimp on. A solid well made sofa is a piece that you should invest in. For me this also applies towards window treatments and area rugs, especially formal living rooms. Of course, I am only human and I can very easily lose track of my budget. Im also a thrifty shopper believe it or not. Who doesn’t love a fabulous sale!? For example, the bust of David that I purchased at a Restoration Hardware that was closing, I ended up spray painting to add a little more color to my formal living room. When you don’t spend as much on accessories its ok to play with it and make it “your own”. The throw pillows that I paired with my settee were purchased at Home Goods. Not everything that you purchase for you home has to break the bank It’s all about a healthy balance. That rule applies to interior decor, fashion and other aspects in life as far as I’m concerned. The area rug that is laid in the formal living room was a purchase from the the Pembroke Clothesline Sale. The last piece of furniture that was purchased was the coffee table. It took me awhile to find the right one. Im not really one to settle and neither should you. It took me awhile to find it but I did at West Elm while shopping for a client. I love the brushed brass with the marble top. A nice finish to our living room.
