Now that we have left the beach towels, board shorts and summer heat behind us, its time to put a little focus on one of my favorite seasons, FALL!  Autumn brings with it cool evenings and brisk evenings.  Although, it is feeling pretty summery today here in Kansas City with a near record-breaking high of 83 degrees.  Not only is Fall the start to the “most wonderful time of the year” but what really resonates with me is the gorgeous changing of the leaves.  Those beautiful hues of greens, reds, oranges and yellows just bring splendor to all surroundings.  This time of year is when I start to pull out those heavy cardigans, new boots, scarves, gloves, coats and a stockpile of sweaters.  Something else to look forward to during Fall is the excitement to curating fresh warmer outfits and finding new ways to layer your clothes.  Now layering does not mean bulky.  This style is all about the right proportions, right stylish layers and colors.  You can easily have five or six colors going on in one ensemble.  Please make sure all colors work well together.

Incase, you start getting hot you can very easily make one layer off and not have to sacrifice the look.  Each layer should be something you could wear on its own.  Once you cool off,  you can put the layer you took off back on.  Sports jackets and blazers (as pictured) are a staple of menswear.  I found this inexpensive but good quality blazer by Club Room at Macy’s (macys.com).  I have found many sports jackets in thrift stores and then had them adjusted at my favorite tailor, Rydell’s Custom Tailor: 6231 Brooskside Blvd, Kansas City MO 64113, 816-333-9669.  Other accessories that add some variety to a layered outfit include hats, gloves and jewelry.  I wouldn’t suggest too many accents or accessories if you already have a few visible layers because then it would end up looking too bulky and uncomfortable.  The key here is nothing more than combining your clothing so that it functions properly and is aesthetically pleasing to the eye.
